Advanced Art Club
Structured towards children with experience, talents and a desire to explore expressions in art. The club
provides an opportunity for the students to experiment and study various art mediums.

Advanced Instrumental Ensembles
Provide an opportunity for students to learn to play classical music in an ensemble. This group will play
during the Fall and Spring concerts.

Art Club
Provide an opportunity for students to explore their interests and develop skills in various forms of art.

Chess
Provide an opportunity for the students to learn the mechanics, phases, tactics, and strategies of the
game. This club will work on time management, planning and increasing flexibility.

Choir
Learn new songs and practice singing together. This choir will sing during the Fall and Spring concerts.

Community Service Club
This club was initiated by our students. At Great Hearts civic responsibility is a core value. As such
community service hours are required to graduate. This club will be defining and organizing events for
all MPA students to participate.

Dance Club
Develop and perform creative (mostly contemporary) dance. This group will perform during the Fall and
Spring concerts.

Drama Club
Drama is part of the MPA core curriculum. This club offers those interested additional opportunities to
explore the process of dramatic creation. The club will devise original theatrical pieces inspired by
poetry, theatre history, art, music, and anything that we find beautiful.

Engineering Club
Learn engineering basics through designing and building concrete Frisbees, bridges, gliders and a basic
electrical system. We will also study questions in the categories of life sciences, physical sciences,
earth sciences, mathematics and general science to prepare for the annual Science Bowl competition.

Homework ClubThis club provides a quite place for students to study immediately after school most days. Students can
help each other or study independently. Continuity is not important in this club.

Horticulture ClubThis is a new club for our new facility. We will be selecting a location; establishing the soil; planning for
organic garden and planting. This club will study the science behind compost and the biology behind
organic gardening.

KarateProvide an opportunity for students to learn karate with a focus on cardiovascular health and flexibility.
This club may extend out the entire year depending on student participation.

Latin ClubProvide and opportunity for students to learn and practice Latin as well as compete.

Math CountsDevelop creative problem solving skills through solving increasingly more challenging math problems.
Through the support of Mr. and Mrs. Weise over the past two years MPA has achieved one of the few
Gold ratings in the nation.

Mentorship ProgramAnnually students apply for this role in the Spring. Students are selected on their academic
performance, behaviors, commitment to MPA and interest in mentoring other students. Mentors are role
models for their peers and the MPA community at large.

Robotics ClubLearn the use of sensors, mechanical design and software programming by building robots using the
Lego kits and competing in the regional FIRST Technical Challenge (FTC) in Flagstaff. Last year MPA
supported two teams to the competition and one came home with Most Innovative Design.

Social CommitteeThis group plans the dance events, PEP Rallies, and Spirit week.

Speech and DebateThis program will develop student’s skill in preparing and presenting speeches and will expand on last
years debates. The club may participate in the Fall performance and a select few competitions
depending on student interest and capabilities.

Yearbook ClubThis club offers practical experience in photography and organization. The students accomplishments in
this club will last a lifetime in the MPA annual Yearbook.

YogaProvide an opportunity for students to learn Yoga from our certified Yoga instructor, gain flexibility and
reduce stress.
