Q. How much does it cost to participate?

A. For the 2009-2010 school year the fees vary according to grade level and sport, and are as follows:

  • Junior High--$150
  • High School--$250
  • Karate and Archery--$150

Q. What will my child need to do to participate?

1)                1) Attend Coach’s information meeting.

a.       Each Coach will hold an informational meeting detailing expectations, time commitment, specific equipment athletes must provide (if any), etc.  This meeting will be held during the weeks prior to the beginning of a season.  For sports that begin in the fall, an informational meeting will be held at the close of the previous school year in May.

2)                2) Complete necessary paperwork.

a.       All paperwork can be obtained in the front office or online at the Forms and Documents page, under the Athletics tab of this website.  Paperwork includes:

                                                               i.      Sports Physical (Completes on the AIA approved form, also located at the Forms and Documents page)

ii.      Proof of Health Insurance Form

iii.      Sports Injury Risk Acknowledgement Form

iv.      Consent for Participation in Interscholastic Athletics

                                                              v.      Student-Athlete Commitment Form

                                                            vi.      Parents’ Code of Conduct

3)                3) Pay participation fee.

a.       Mesa Prep’s extra-curricular activities are self-supporting, and so require a participation fee so that MPA can continue to offer a sports program worthy of our student-athletes.  See above question about cost for specific amounts.

4)                4) Maintain Extra-Curricular Eligibility.

a.       Please see the Family Handbook for Mesa Prep's current Ineligibilty Policy.

Q. When will practices begin?

A.  Fall sports run from August–October, Winter sports November-February, and Spring February-May.  Semester sports start and end close to the start and ending dates of the fall and spring semesters.  Specific dates will be given at the Coach’s Informational Meeting.

Q. How can I support the athletic program at MPA?

A. The athletic program at MPA is self-supporting, and is financed through fees and contributions to the Arizona Extra-Curricular Tax Credit Program, with approximately 50% of the funds coming from each.  Follow the link for more information.
