Mesa Preparatory Academy asks every family in the Mesa Prep community to participate in our two annual fundraising campaigns: The Community Investment campaign supports our academic model in the classroom and the Tax Credit drive supports our extra-curricular programs. Together, these two efforts are vital to the health of the school and our ability to provide a full prep school education to every student.

Community Investment

What is the Community Investment campaign?

The essential priorities of Mesa Prep's educational model cost more per-student than what we receive from the state. Therefore, we ask our families to contribute to the annual Community Investment campaign and help make up that difference.

What does it support?

Family support through the Community Investment campaign allows the leadership of Mesa Prep to run the school day-to-day, and to hold fast to our mission as we plan and grow. It ensures that:

  • Our class sizes stay small at an average of 23 students
  • We maintain an on-campus student-teacher ratio of 14:1
  • Our teachers teach an average of only four and a half hours per day, as compared to district averages of five or six hours

The result is that our teachers instruct far fewer students than the district average, are better able to prepare for their lessons, and have more time for communication with students and parents. Our students receive more meaningful assignments, daily feedback, and the opportunity for one-on-one tutoring. These are essentials you will not find at a district school. These are the essentials that set Mesa Prep apart.

How do families participate?

We ask each family to contribute $1,200 to help cover the per-student gap between what we need for our academic model and what we receive from the state. Knowing that every family's financial situation is different, we encourage families to give as they are able. Many families choose to spread out their contribution by making monthly gifts over the course of the school year. Other families make a one-time gift to the Community Investment campaign. Every family's participation, at whatever level, is vital to supporting the priorities of Mesa Prep.

Public School Tax Credit

What is the Tax Credit drive?

The Arizona Public School Tax Credit is a unique state program that allows Arizona taxpayers to contribute to our extra-curricular programs and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on their state taxes. Married couples can donate up to $400 and single filers can donate up to $200 and receive the full credit from their state tax liability.

What does it support?

Tax Credit contributions support the extra-curricular programs at Mesa Prep such as robotics, speech and debate, and athletics. Community support through successful Tax Credit drives at Mesa Prep ensures that we are able to provide a vibrant, competitive extra-curricular program for our students.

Who can participate?

Every family can take advantage of the Arizona Public School Tax Credit and support Mesa Prep. Many families chose to contribute in November and December, but any Tax Credit contribution made in the 2013 calendar year will receive the dollar-for dollar credit. Any Arizona taxpayer is eligible to take the credit. We ask every family to donate their Tax Credit to Mesa Prep and invite their extended network of friends and family to do the same.

Note: When taking the state tax credit you may not also take it as a deduction on your state income taxes. You may take it as a normal charitable deduction on your federal taxes.

Donor and Family Feedback

Our supporters understand the importance of a Mesa Prep education and have made the success of the school a priority. After witnessing the transformative effects of the classical liberal arts curriculum in our youth, parents and friends become even more enthusiastic about investing in the health of our school.

Mesa Prep families share below why they contribute to the Community Investment campaign and Tax Credit drive.  We appreciate your feedback and encourage you to click here to tell us why you support MPA.

"I want to ensure my son receives the best public education possible and I believe that Mesa Prep and the Great Hearts Academies in general provide just that."

"Mesa Prep has provided our children with an exceptional education and we want to continue to ensure they receive the same type of education in the future."
